Feehan Hires New Boys Hockey Coach

David Franzosa to lead Shamrocks on the ice

ATTLEBORO, MA – Bishop Feehan High School is proud to announce that David Franzosa has been named varsity boys hockey head coach, effective immediately.  Franzosa takes over for former head coach, Kevin Dunn, who stepped down after seven years as head coach.

David_Franzosa.jpgCoach Franzosa has a long record of success in the sport of hockey and a passion for coaching. Over the past 12 years he has been a head coach in the South Shore Kings program across all age groups from Mite Development to U18 and is currently the Head of Player Development and the Director of Coaching in the organization. He was the head coach of the 2018-19 U14 South Shore Kings Tier 1 Massachusetts state championship team and the 2019-20 U15 Tier 1 Cape Cod Whalers Massachusetts state championship team.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Franzosa into the Feehan athletic family," said Feehan Athletic Director Christan Schatz. "I'm sure his wealth of hockey knowledge and commitment to our school community and culture will lead to many future successes on the ice.

“Coach is committed to building exactly the kind of hockey program that Feehan is developing in every sport — students and athletes first, character and sportsmanship always, ongoing player development, excellence and championships. We are excited to compete at the highest levels in the Catholic Central League."

Franzosa is a 1988 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy where he captained the baseball and hockey teams and a 1992 graduate of Boston College where he was a captain of the hockey team. He was a four-year varsity hockey player at Boston College, played in the Frozen Four during the 1989-90 season, was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 1989, and played professionally in the East Coast Hockey League and in Italy.

“I am honored to be the boys’ varsity hockey coach at Bishop Feehan and extremely proud to be part of the Feehan community,” said Franzosa. “The hockey program is well positioned to succeed, and I am excited to get started.”

David and his wife Jennifer have two children, Kate (19) and Thomas (17) and reside in Norton, Ma.
